About us
The Mercedes AMG Petronas Fan club was the brainchild of Mohamed Al Jneibi. After the withdrawal of Honda from F1, and with a new team that rose to fill in it’s place (the same people behind Honda Racing team). With a great team principle (Ross Brawn) and the management talents of Nick Fry the Honda Racing became officially known as Brawn GP. During the 2009 season, idea for making a Brawn GP fan club in the UAE later started.
After the fairytale ending of winning both Drivers’ (Jenson Button) and Constructors’ Championships, Brawn GP became a new and unique force to be reckoned with. It was here that after the later majority stake buy in by Mercedes where things turned back to the glory days of the Silver Arrows. Determined to make a loyal fan base for this amazing team the UAE Mercedes GP Fan club started on Facebook.
With the official Media Privilege (exclusively provided by the Main Mercedes AMG Petronas team), our group started to slowly gather pace, and highlight the team during the F1 season in 2010.
For 2011, we re-branded and gone global with Mercedes GP Fan Club. And Following the Announcement by Mercedes GP for 2012, we’d also updated the Name to MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS Fan Club.
2013 and a new era for the Silver Arrows as the “three pointed star” looks to revive its former glory, The team’s drivers are now 2008 World Champion Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg. With a New fan base joining us we’re pride ourselves on being the definitive Fan base for the Mercedes AMG Petronas team.
While modest in it’s look, this website is made for all fans (and admirers) of F1 racing, and for new people interested in supporting a team (with a rich history as shown with the Silver Arrows).
The Fan club is headed by Abdur-Razzaq Al-Haddad (Raz), along with our lead designer and graphics by Tadej Prezelj. Together we’ll be bringing the latest developments and stories For The Fans, By the Fans! Detailed analysis throughout the Season, as well as Reports from Races we’ve planned to be at. Ready to attract more fans from the around the world, we hope that this website makes a valuable resource for not just official team news, but for other F1 highlights as well.
We’re a fan base that is looking to grow, and now in our 4th year, we’re getting there, we’re on twitter, facebook, google+ vimeo, and mixcloud, for maximizing the reach of the fan base.
The Mercedes AMG Petronas Fan club is based in Abu Dhabi, we’ve had a very successful 2012 with our reach on the web, as well as Finally meeting the team! In Addition, with the talented 2008 World Champion Lewis Hamilton joining the Silver Arrows from 2013 we’re hoping that we can share more success with the team and the fans.
